I was lucky enough to have an exceptional grandfather and mother: Riccardo and Marina! My grandfather Riccardo was fatherless at the age of 6. His dream would have been to enroll in engineering, but he had to roll up his sleeves and as soon as he finished accountancy he had to go to work. With his father-in-law, my great-grandfather Giuseppe Serazzi, immediately after the end of the Second World War, he set up an electrical cable and telephone cable factory, which enabled Marina to paint on ceramics and porcelain all his life… from 12 to 72 years! But they are not unique and exceptional because of that… They are unique and exceptional because in every moment I have been lucky enough to spend next to them, they have taught me to always be curious about everything around me. They have taught me to understand that in the small things in life lie all the big things. They taught me to think of others before myself. They have taught me that the greatest gift we can give someone is to “give them our time and attention”.
They taught me to have great self-control in moments of great pain or great joy that sooner or later burst into everyone’s life. They have taught me to preserve the childlike side that is hidden in all of us. They have taught me to be strong and optimistic in all the trials of life. They taught me to find in the Good Lord the strength to always get back up… from everything! They taught me to never deny my principles and the values I believe in, to never compromise. They have taught me to always persevere along the road that leads to my goal… no matter how difficult it is! I would like to thank all those who stood by me when my beloved mother passed away, and to all of you, and to all those I do not yet know in person, but will meet in my life, I welcome you to our Foundation, assuring you that in my own small way, I will try to continue to spread the trail of love and charity that has always accompanied my family into the world!
